Sector rotation versus single-name noise
How we tell a genuine leadership shift among small-cap sectors from a handful of noisy winners.
Not every cluster of strong small-caps is a rotation. Sometimes three names with company-specific news create the illusion of sector leadership.
Breadth before story
We look at how many names in a sector peer set are improving on relative strength, not only the loudest winner. Thin breadth with a strong anecdote stays labelled as single-name behaviour.
Confirm with volume across the group
If leadership is real, advancing sessions tend to show participation beyond one or two tickers. When volume concentrates in a single name, our Sector Rotation Briefs say so plainly.
Write the invalidation
Every rotation read needs a condition that would make us drop it — a failed follow-through week, a macro headline that re-prices the group, or liquidity drying in the supposed leaders. Without invalidation language, a brief becomes a story that cannot end.
